"Corporate sustainability and environmental stewardship are common themes in today's business world. Many leading businesses are taking huge steps to mitigate the risks of climate change by lowering their carbon footprint and using renewable energy in the way they do business," said Jan Hamrin, president of the Center for Resource Solutions. "Today we succeeded in our goal to bring members of Bay Area businesses together and let them know that renewable energy is available to them in the Bay Area and the ease at which it can be incorporated into the way they do business."
Participants in the workshop included representatives from: New Leaf Paper, Yahoo!, Fetzer Winery, Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, Real Food Company, HP, Silicon Valley Leadership Group, Green Impact, Levi Strauss & Co., LFR Levine-Fricke, Palm, CH2MHill, CSEG, New Resource Bank, Real Food Company, Habitat Media, and more. The Bay Area Renewable Energy Business Symposium was made possible through generous contributions by the San Francisco Foundation, Safeway, Inc., and Pacific Gas & Electric. 3 Phases Energy Services, a Bay Area renewable energy provider, donated enough Green-e certified renewable energy certificates to offset the electricity used in the symposium room and in the entire San Francisco Ferry Building for the full day of this event. 3 Phases also donated enough renewable energy certificates to offset the carbon emissions associated with symposium participants' travel to bring forth an event with a small carbon footprint.
